The Azores have been unveiled as one of the best destinations in the world to dive up close and personal with the Blue shark in blue water, making this dive one for the logbook. The chance to interact with these amazing species in open water and not confined to cage is a truly exhilarating experience and one dive you will never forget. We also frequently encounter the short fin mako on our shark diving adventure, which is a privilege sighting for any diver. To safely dive with sharks knowledge, skills, discipline and extreme care are required. All divers attending our Adventure Shark Dive are given a fully certified SSI presentation on shark behaviour and shark diving conduct to ensure safe shark diving.

Dive the Azores is a fully certified SSI School who can deliver the Shark Diver speciality course, all of our shark guides are instructors so whether you are taking the course or not your certified Shark Dive guide will deliver the same intensive briefing prior to each excursion on how to safely conduct yourself during the dive. We fully understand photographers wish that perfect picture and so we offer varied excursions to meet everybody’s criteria. Regular shark excursions have a maximum of 8 divers whilst we operate professional excursions to ensure that optimum picture with a maximum of 4 divers. Professionals may wish to book our exclusive private charter.

Qualifications
Due to the nature of the dive each participating diver must be a certified Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent with a minimum of 50 logged dives and hold current diving insurance although this can be arranged through us. A prerequisite for the Adventure Shark Dive is buoyancy and trim check dive giving you time to perfect your skills with an instructor.

SSI and SHARKPROJECT have decided to actively support the positive image of sharks by founding the SHARK DIVING Program.
Experience the fascination of sharks in an unforgettable way! Divers and non-divers have the chance to find out more about sharks and to learn the correct techniques when meeting sharks. SSI and Dive the Azores are donating 10% of the income from the SHARK DIVING Specialty Program to shark preservation. As a participant in the program you are making an active contribution to help secure the survival of sharks.
